Shanghai Shimmer: Disco Debut of Kylie Minogue's H&M Collection
Kylie Minogue
“Come into my world,” sang the 300-strong female chorus to celebrities and socials as they arrived for the “H&M loves Kylie” event at the Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology.
The soirée, organized in part by ASW member Anastasia Kolpakova, marked the global launch of the Swedish company’s Kylie-inspired beachwear line and its flagship store debut in China with sparkling style. One hundred kilos of Swarovski crystals were used to transform the museum’s lobby into a walk-in disco ball. A gyrating surfboard hung over a twinkling mirrored sea where guests such as Hong Kong film star Ai Dai, top model Du Juan and TV star Lee Xiao Ran posed for photographers.

While the evening’s fireworks display was worthy of the best Chinese New Year celebration, the highlight was undoubtedly Kylie Minogue’s live performance, which was simultaneously broadcast to the rest of the world. Shanghai-based ASW members Kiko Sih, Armelle Nguyen Than, Todd Gill, Vicky Hung, Adrien Chavassieu and Vittorio Gabba were amongst those who enjoyed the performance and the evening’s decadent atmosphere first-hand.
As if attending the chicest shindig that the city has seen in years was not enough, Shanghai’s fabulous set received a post-party treat. They’ll enjoy first dibs on the exclusive “H&M loves Kylie” line at the label’s local flagship a whole four weeks before fashionistas elsewhere.
